Mater Dei’s girls basketball program has produced its seventh McDonald’s All-American.

Senior point guard Addison Deal was announced Monday as a West team selection for the McDonald All-American Game on April 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Deal, a 6-foot senior who signed with Iowa in November, is averaging about 19.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.8 steals for the Monarchs (20-2), ranked No. 1 in Orange County and No. 4 in the nation by MaxPreps.

Deal has delivered a strong bounce-back campaign after suffering a season-ending ankle injury as a junior.

As a sophomore, Deal was selected The Register’s Orange County player of the year at Mater Dei.

Mater Dei’s legacy of McDonald’s All-Americans in girls basketball includes Brooke Demetre, Katie Lou Samuelson, Karlie Samuelson, Alexyz Vaioletama, Jordan Adams and Kaleena Mosqueda Lewis.

Grace Knox (LSU signee) and point guard Aliyahna “Puff” Morris (Cal) of reigning state champion Etiwanda will join Deal on the West squad in April.

The game will air at 3:30 p.m. PST on ESPN2.

Last year, former Mater Dei coach Kevin Kiernan served as one of the coaches at the McDonald’s All-American girls game.
