(KRON) — A new EV charging program from Pacifica Gas & Electric Company is putting its money where its mouth is in an effort to attract participants. The program is available to drivers in three Bay Area counties and, according to PG&E, will help customers save on electric vehicle charging costs.
Participants in the program, which is called EV Charge Manager, will get a $75 Tango gift card. PG&E said the program is designed to ensure EVs are charged when electric rates and grid demand are low.
“Simply plug in the EV, set the target battery level and ready-by time and rest assured knowing it will be ready to go when you need it,” PG&E explained.
The program is available to PG&E customers in Santa Clara, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties who own or lease an eligible Tesla or use a Wallbox, Chargepoint or Emporia charger. To be eligible, customers must live in a single-family or detached residence.
To receive the gift card, participants must remain in the program for at least three months and stay connected to the platform at least 50% of the time. Through a partnership with WeaveGrid, PG&E said the program provides a personalized dashboard with insights into charging habits, costs, battery usage and battery efficiency.
