(KRON) — The Oakland Police Department is investigating after a person was found wounded by gunfire and later died at the hospital, according to authorities.
Police responded at approximately 9 p.m. to the 4200 block of Bancroft Avenue on the report of multiple ShotSpotter activations. Arriving officers located a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound, OPD said.
Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section at 510-238-3821.
