East Bay beer garden expands with opening of Walnut Creek location this week

(KRON) — A new beer garden is opening in Walnut Creek this week. East Bay-based Headlands Brewing is set to open its third location on Friday, Jan. 24.

The Walnut Creek beer garden is opening at 2999 Oak Road, Suite A with both indoor and outdoor seating, a press release from the company states. The brewery is next to the Embassy Suites on Treat Boulevard and across the street from the Pleasant Hill BART station.

The beer garden will also include a full kitchen with Executive Chef Jose Gonzales at the helm. Patrons can expect a diverse menu that includes smash burgers, the press release said. More than 20 beverages will be available on tap. Headlands Brewing will also serve cocktails and wine.

The Walnut Creek location — which spans across 5,000 square feet — joins the two other Headlands Brewing beer gardens in Berkeley and Lafayette.

Headlands Brewing is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Other businesses are set to open in Walnut Creek this year. Although no opening date is set, Hilton Garden Inn is expected to open in the spring.

Famed San Francisco staple Original Joe’s is also opening this spring at Broadway Plaza — the restaurant’s first location in the East Bay since its inception in 1937. Last fall, Pinstripes bowling alley opened in downtown Walnut Creek, adding to the list of entertainment options in the city. Walnut Creek’s first non-alcoholic bar, Sipeos, opened at the end of 2024.
