This week’s Orange County high school boys basketball rankings.
BOYS BASKETBALL TOP 25
(Records through Sunday, Jan. 19)
1. Santa Margarita 17-3: The Eagles cruised as expected to two Trinity League wins, 65-38 over Orange Lutheran and 86-54 over Servite. They have a pair of important league games this week, Wednesday at Mater Dei and home Friday against St. John Bosco.

2. JSerra 17-4: The Lions beat Mater Dei 60-52, led by BJ Davis Ray’s 20 points, Brannon Martinsen’s 15 points and freshman Ryan Doane’s 11 points and 12 rebounds.

3. Mater Dei 16-5: The Monarchs lost to JSerra then got a Trinity League win over Orange Lutheran, led by Demarcus Henry’s 18 points. They finished the week by beating Campbell Hall 79-66 in the State Preview Classic as Luke Barnett scored 33 points with four 3-pointers.

4. Los Alamitos 13-6: The Griffins are 7-0 in the tough Sunset League after last week’s league wins over Fountain Valley 74-65 and Huntington Beach 66-30. They lost to Redondo 92-75 in the State Preview Classic.

5. Crean Lutheran 10-9: The Saints are in first place in the rugged Crestview League with a 3-1 record. They had league wins last week over Cypress 69-68 in double overtime and 62-51 over Canyon. They play Mater Dei on Saturday in the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei.

6. Canyon 17-5: Canyon lost to Crean Lutheran 62-51 in a Crestview League game, beat San Gabriel Academy 57-53 and lost to Inglewood 84-75.

7. Fairmont Prep 12-8: The Huskies defeated Pacifica Christian 60-56 in a crucial game in the San Joaquin League. Leroy Davis and Marcus Fernandez scored 15 points each for Fairmont Prep, which is 3-0 in league.

8. Pacifica Christian 14-7: The Tritons lost to Fairmont Prep by four points in the San Joaquin League, defeated Western Christian in another league game.

9. Foothill 14-8: The Knights were missing a couple of key players but still beat La Habra 61-55 in a Crestview League game as 6-11 senior Danny Kennard scored 22 points with seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Foothill plays Los Alamitos on Saturday in the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei.

10. La Habra 18-6: The Highlanders lost to Foothill 61-55 in a Crestview League game, their second league loss in a row after starting 2-0 in league with wins over Cypress and Crean Lutheran.
