Twelve fire companies were sent to battle a large-scale fire that erupted in a boarded-up commercial building in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday.
The “Greater Alarm” blaze was reported around 6 a.m. at the two-story building located on West Pico Boulevard near South Hope Street.

“The fire appears to have breached a dividing wall and is extending into the adjacent, exposed building,” the Los Angeles Fire Department stated in an update at 6:36 a.m.
About 30 minutes later, the Fire Department said that crews continued to “make good progress” and that the fire was contained to the initial location.
“There is no extension into the adjacent units,” the Fire Department stated.
The fire was eventually extinguished by nearly 100 firefighters after 1 hour and 19 minutes.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
