A 43-year-old Santa Ana man has been arrested in connection with a pair of assaults in Santa Ana Sunday afternoon, including a fatal stabbing in a McDonald’s parking lot.
The attacks occurred just after 3 p.m. at a shopping center near Bristol Street and Sunflower Avenue, the Santa Ana Police Department said.
First, a woman was punched multiple times in what Officer Natalie Garcia called an unprovoked attack, and immediately after that, a man was stabbed in the chest in the parking lot of McDonald’s, 3810 S. Bristol St.
The woman is in stable condition, but the man was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His identity has not been released, but officials confirmed he was a 43-year-old Santa Ana resident.
“The two victims were unrelated,” police added in an update.
Justin Anthony Carlin is being held at the Santa Ana Jail on murder and other charges.
