(KRON) — The Richmond Police Department is asking community members to be more vigilant as it investigates a recent wave of street robberies.
Richmond PD said there have been 30 incidents reported since Dec. 1 of last year.
Police are reminding residents to follow several crime prevention tips to help keep them safe, including:
- Be aware of your surroundings, especially when getting in or out of your car.
- Keep your phone tucked away when out in public to avoid distractions.
- If a situation doesn’t feel right to you, it probably isn’t. Trust your instincts and go somewhere safer.
- Keep your valuable items out of sight in your car, placing them in your trunk or just taking them with you.
- Walk in groups, especially at night.
Richmond PD asks the public to not hesitate in reporting anything suspicious.
