Part of the westbound 134 Freeway is completely shut down Sunday morning after a crash involving a wrong-way driver that left two people dead.
According to a CHP spokesperson, the collision was first reported at 8:29 a.m. on the 134 near the San Rafael Avenue off-ramp in Pasadena west of the interchange with the 210 Freeway.
At least four vehicles were involved in the crash, the spokesperson confirmed.
Two people died in the crash, according to City of Pasadena Public Information Officer Lisa Dederian. Three others were rushed to nearby hospitals, Dederian added.
Footage from the scene taken by KTLA shows multiple mangled vehicles with debris scattered across all lanes of the roadway.
At least one of the vehicles was seen facing the wrong way, although it is not known if that car was the one that was initially driving east in the westbound lanes.
The affected stretch of 134 Freeway is set to remain closed for several hours, and motorists who need to travel through the area are advised to seek alternate routes.
