Apple Fitness+ adds pickleball training

If you can believe it, Apple Fitness+ is four years old!

It launched right during the pandemic – a genius “work out anywhere” solution when gyms were off limits.

Now they’ve got some new ways to close your rings – and if you’re anything like me, that’s a daily goal.

“Apple Fitness is the most welcoming and inclusive fitness and wellness service for anyone who’s coming to live a better day by being more active,” said Julz Arney, Senior Director of Fitness Technologies and Fitness+ at Apple.

Recently, I visited the Apple Fitness+ studio in Santa Monica for a behind-the-scenes look at how workouts come together. They’ve got a smiling team of trainers dedicated to welcoming users of all abilities.

“Sometimes being by yourself and working out, you can lose motivation, but we’re here to cheer you on all the way to the end,” said Kim Ngo, an Apple Fitness+ trainer.

New for 2025? A three-week strength training program for everyone – just choose your starting weight.

And right on trend – there’s also pickleball training, which trains you for you more stamina on the court and less injuries.

“The exercises and movements are geared to help train you in a way that when you do go out and you play with your friends and your family, you’re going to be moving better with better coordination and better skills,” explained Bakari Williams, an Apple Fitness+ trainer.

Fitness is about overall wellness too – there are new breath meditation programs that teach techniques on how to relax and energize.

The benefits? “Less stress, less anxiety, calm mind,” explained Jonelle Lewis, an Apple Fitness+ trainer specializing in Yoga.

Yoga has always been a mainstay of their training program, but now they’re getting some new workouts that help you perfect specific poses.

“Yoga in general is something that’s good for your body, for your mind and your spirit and for your overall well-being,” said Lewis.

The new year always a great time to re-evaluate your goals – and get a fresh start on fitness.

“You get to reevaluate your past year and you get to think about, ‘Okay, I want new goals.
I want to make changes.’ So it’s a great time to start something new,” concluded Ngo.

Apple Fitness+ is $10 a month but you can score a free trial with the purchase of an Apple product like an iPhone, iPad and more.

Don’t forget to try one of my favorite features called Time to Walk. These audio-guided walks let you listen to inspiring stories from celebrities, musicians, and other prominent folks… all to help you stay active.

A bit more advanced? Check out Time to Run – these are similar, but trainer-led guided runs that take you through a specific city – where you learn about notable sights as you go along – they even send pictures to your Apple Watch for a visual of what the trainer is talking about.
