(KRON) — The Berkeley Police Department is investigating an attempted kidnapping Thursday morning in the area of Ninth and Addison Streets. Police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community.
Berkeley PD said it received the report at 7:25 a.m. The parent told police she was walking with her son when she was approached by a man and woman in a “large white van” at around 6:55 a.m. The mother said the female suspect tried to grab her son, but the parent and child were able to get away.
Police said there were no injuries reported during this incident and no arrests have yet been made.
Berkeley PD said responding officers were not able to locate the suspected van, but confirmed investigators have begun collecting evidence.
