(KRON) — The Vallejo Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed one person Tuesday. The male victim arrived at an area hospital suffering from at least one gunshot wound and later succumbed to his injuries.
Police were notified at 5:52 p.m. by the hospital’s medical staff that a male patient had arrived seeking medical treatment for a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation determined that the shooting occurred on the 100 block of Kemper Street at around 5:45 p.m., Vallejo PD said. Evidence was collected from the scene and officers gathered witness statements as police seek to uncover the motive and circumstances of the shooting.
The identity of the victim was not released.
The fatal shooting marks the 25th homicide in Vallejo for 2024, according to authorities.
