A doctor in Beverly Hills charged in the drugging and raping of a woman earlier this year may have additional victims, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
Physician Babak Hajhosseini, 42, was arrested in November by Los Angeles police in connection with a sexual assault that occurred on Aug. 18, the DA’s Office stated.
Details about the incident were not provided but more information was found in the charges filed by the DA’s Office.
Hajhosseini was charged with two felony counts of rape by use of drugs; one felony count of rape of an unconscious or asleep person; one felony count of oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance; three felony counts of oral copulation of an unconscious or asleep person; and one felony count of sodomy of an unconscious person.
“Our office’s Sex Crimes Division is working diligently to bring justice to the victim in this case,” District Attorney Nathan Hochman said. “The case remains under investigation, and we encourage anyone with information about the defendant or similar incidents to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.”
Hajhosseini pleaded not guilty to all of the charges on Dec. 27 and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 13.
He is currently out of custody after posting a $2.175 million bond.
If convicted as charged, Hajhosseini faces a maximum sentence of 34 years in prison.
