An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was fatally struck on the offramp of the 215 Freeway in San Bernardino during the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.
The crash was reported just before 3 a.m. Wednesday after a vehicle exited the southbound 215 on 5th Street.
A pedestrian was standing in the middle of the roadway for unknown reasons when they were struck by the vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian died as a result of the injuries. No information regarding the victim’s identity has been released.
The offramp was shut down for the investigation.
It was unclear if the driver sustained any injuries in the crash.
