(KRON) — An 82-year-old man was killed in what police suspect is a hit-and-run crash in Hayward on Monday, the Hayward Police Department said.
Police responded to the area of Miami Avenue and Coronado Street at about 6 a.m. They found the elderly victim in the roadway with injuries that suggested he was struck by a car.
The man was taken to a hospital where he died. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified.
There were no drivers at the scene of the crash, and HPD believes the driver fled the scene. Anyone with information about the crash or the driver is asked to call (510) 293-7011.
This was Hayward’s ninth fatal crash of 2024.
