Home invasion sparks 2 pursuits in Southern California; multiple arrests made

Three men were arrested after a home-invasion-style burglary prompted two separate high-speed pursuits in Ventura County Monday, officials announced.

The Dec. 16 incident began in the early morning hours as deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a break-in at a residence in an unincorporated area of Oxnard know as Hollywood Beach.

Deputies, according to a VCSD news release, spotted known parolee Jordan Corrales, 23, a resident of Oxnard, driving away from the area and initiated a pursuit.

“Due to Corrales’ erratic driving and willful disregard for members of the public, the pursuit was terminated,” authorities said.

With assistance from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s Adult Parole Unit, deputies were able to locate the 23-year-old several hours later in a vehicle with two additional suspects, identified as 19-year-old Alfonso Corrales and 24-year-old Michael Gomez, both residents of Oxnard.

It’s unclear if the suspects were in the same vehicle from the earlier pursuit, but authorities said the 23-year-old was behind the wheel and attempted to flee deputies a second time, leading them on a pursuit from Camarillo to Oxnard.

VCDA’s helicopter helped track the vehicle and when the suspects entered Oxnard, officers with the Oxnard Police Department assisted in the pursuit.

In the residential area of Escalon Drive and Outsail Place, Corrales brought the vehicle to a stop and all three men attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by authorities.

Jordan Corrales, who is being held on a $500,0000 bond, was arrested for evading, burglary and parole violation. Alfonso Corrales, who is being held on $25,000 bond, was arrested for prowling, resisting arrest, possession of a concealed dagger and an outstanding arrest warrant.

Gomez, who was released after posting a $40,000 bond, was arrested for resisting arrest and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Both Jordan and Alfonso are schedule to appear in court on Dec. 18.
