(KRON) — A severe traffic alert has been issued for westbound Interstate 580 in Richmond on Thursday morning. The center and right lanes are blocked near the Central Avenue offramp as of 5:05 a.m. after a vehicle collision involving a big rig, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the CHP’s incident log, a Toyota RAV4 and a big rig were involved in a crash that resulted in the big rig leaking oil. Crews are responding to clean up the oil and remove the vehicles from the roadway.
It was not immediately known if there were any injuries in the collision.
There is no estimated time to reopen all lanes. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and expect delays in the area.
