SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A system of moderate to locally heavy rainfall moved across the Bay Area overnight into Thursday morning. Light to moderate rain was felt in San Francisco and along the coast Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
A chance of rain showers across the greater Bay Area will persist Thursday. However, more impactful rainfall is expected to fall through Friday evening into Saturday, when our heaviest rainfall is expected.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the North Bay Friday and Saturday, impacting Sonoma, Napa and Marin counties. The watch takes affect at 2 p.m. Friday and will last through 4 p.m. Saturday.

The NWS is warning of rises on creeks, rivers and streams, along with ponding of water on roadways and other low-lying areas. More rain is expected on Monday, according to KRON4 Meteorologist John Shrable.
“Watch for increased risk of standing water on roads over the weekend as we see an additional system push in on Saturday, followed by what will likely be a third rain maker on Monday,” Shrable said.
While the majority of Wednesday night’s rain has now shifted to the Central Coast, the NWS warns that additional rain showers will continue throughout the day Thursday.
