2 arrested in fatal Anaheim shooting of a man found in car

A man and a woman from the Inland Empire were arrested Wednesday, Dec. 11, on suspicion of fatally shooting an Anaheim man as he sat in a car in a residential neighborhood over the weekend, authorities said.

Rashaadd Eugene Royal, 41, of Corona and Jennifer Camacho Mandap, 51, of Moreno Valley were arrested on suspicion of murder in the killing of Kenneth Wayne Swets, 25, Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter said.

Police did not disclose how Royal and Mandap were identified as suspects, but did say Royal and Swets were acquaintances.

The shooting occurred just before 8:45 a.m. in the 2000 block of Margie Lane just west of the Anaheim Convention Center, Sutter said. Swets was found in the car with multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

The car appeared to be parallel parked along the street in a neighborhood that is normally quiet and not known for gang activity.

Whether Swets owned the car and whether he was in the driver’s seat was not disclosed by police. The department had not released further information about the circumstances leading up to the shooting, either.

A possible motive was not disclosed.
