(KRON) – Three players have been traded to the San Jose Earthquakes, the team announced Monday.
Defender Dave Romney and midfielders Ian Harkes and Mark-Anthony Kaye will be making their way to Silicon Valley from the New England Revolution.
The Revolution will receive $500,000 in General Allocation Money for the next two years and a 2025 international roster slot.
The deal was made in the Major League Soccer’s half-day trade window.
Newly appointed Head Coach and Sporting Director Bruce Arena is quite familiar with the trio. Arena served in the same roles for New England.

“We’re pleased to be able to add three quality players to our roster,” said Arena.
Romney has Bay Area ties. Born in Irvine, the defender matriculated at the University of San Francisco, where he played 19 games in his senior season, scoring one goal and leading the Dons with six assists. Romney is in his 10th season with 225 league appearances. Arena also coached Romney in their time with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
“Dave is a proven defender who has excelled in this league, while Ian and Mark-Anthony will provide versatility and valuable experience to our midfield,” said Arena.
In his fourth MLS season, Harkes has played for New England and D.C. United and has scored five goals and six assists in 69 matches.
New England was not Kaye’s first rodeo. He has played for the Colorado Rapid Springs, Toronto FC and Los Angeles FC, where the team won the 2019 Supporters’ Shield.
