(KRON) — A Pleasant Hill man was arrested for lewd and sexual acts with minors back in October, the Pleasant Hill Police Department announced on Tuesday. Police investigating a missing juvenile responded on Oct. 21 to an apartment complex in the 600 block of Old Quarry Road.
While trying to make contact with the resident of the location, a second missing juvenile was discovered at the location. The juveniles were with an adult male, 27-year-old Alejandro Gabriel Sainz of Pleasant Hill.
Detectives interviewed the two juveniles. Sainz was arrested at the scene and booked into county jail. He was charged by the Contra Costa County District Attorney with 20 felonies, including:
- Lewd acts with a minor
- Possession and or control of matter depicting minors in sexual acts
- Other unlawful sexual intercourse charges
Sainz, police said, has remained in custody since his arrest. Police said multiple electronic devices were recovered from Sainz’s home with the assistance of the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
According to police, some of the details of the investigation are being withheld to protect the identities of the victims. Sainz, police said, initially made contact with the victims online.
Both juveniles, who were under the age of 16, were returned to appropriate care, police said. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
