A series of suspicious brush fires ignited along the 10 Freeway in Los Angeles early Monday morning.
A palm tree was reported to be burning as the first two fires were reported around 3:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Video from the scene showed fire spreading up a hillside along the 10 Freeway.
The fires were reported on the eastbound side of the freeway between Crenshaw Boulevard and Arlington Avenue in the Jefferson Park neighborhood.
“All we saw was a little tiny fire and then it built up to this,” said one witness who called 911.
The witness was with a group of people who said they saw three fires along the freeway before they pulled over to wait for emergency services to arrive.
“We just want to make sure someone’s here,” another of the witnesses said.
Firefighters managed to extinguish all of the blazes with no injuries immediately reported.
The cause of the fires remains under investigation but clothes were seen burning in one instance and the CHP noted that a man with a bike was seen near the fires.
