(BCN) — A parking enforcement officer in Santa Rosa was injured Thursday afternoon after he was allegedly hit by the driver of a van who became upset about a citation, authorities said.
At 1:15 p.m., the parking officer was writing a citation for a white Ford van with a trailer that was blocking several cars at the Lot 4 city parking garage, Santa Rosa police said.
“The driver of the van had returned to the location and became upset with the officer and tried to drive off, hitting the parking enforcement officer in the process,” police said in a news release.
When police responded, the victim described the suspect as a man in his 40s, wearing a hat, who had a dog with him in the van. The van had Ohio license plates.
A short time later, surveillance cameras picked up the van in the parking lot of a Home Depot store in Rohnert Park.
Officers found the suspect as he left the store, and he was later identified as Vincent Kimber, 35, of Oregon. He was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing injury. He was booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
The parking officer had minor injuries and was treated and released at a hospital.
