A small plane crashed in the desert several miles from a runway in Palmdale Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of the crash at 1:05 p.m. and arrived on the scene by 1:17 p.m.
Crews initially had difficulty locating the plane, a Van’s RV-14A, but eventually found the crash site near the intersection of Barstow Road and East Avenue N, according to fire officials and the Pulsepoint app.
One occupant was located at the scene, but authorities have not confirmed whether that individual has been evaluated or transported for medical care.
The cause of the crash and additional details about the aircraft were not immediately available.
