A Cal Poly Pomona alum, ex-president of Walt Disney Imagineering and former Imagineering Global Ambassador will give a lecture and discuss his new book Tuesday, Dec. 3, on campus.
Bob Weis will recount his career and book, “Dream Chasing: My Four Decades of Success and Failure with Walt Disney Imagineering.”
The free event is at The House of Mouse at Cal Poly Pomona’s University Theatre, from noon to 1 p.m.
The autobiography offers a behind-the-scenes look at the politics, culture, design and technology that brought Disney projects to reality, a university news release states.
“I wrote ‘Dream Chasing’ to share ideas about how we all have good ideas and vision and dreams,” Weis said in the Wednesday, Nov. 27, release.
His projects include expansion of Disney’s California Adventure Park that included World of Color, Cars Land and Avengers Campus; Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando; the conceptual design for Tokyo DisneySea; and Tokyo Disneyland. He was also executive vice president of creative and design development during the launch of the Shanghai Disney Resort.
At Cal Poly Pomona, Weis was instrumental in creating the Walt Disney Imagineering-funded Bobby Brooks Interdisciplinary Studio, according to the release. Now in its 12th year, the studio trains architecture and landscape architecture students, with Disney Imagineers serving as lecturers and jurors for students’ design reviews.
