A man has been arrested for allegedly groping a 12-year-old girl while she was waiting for the bus in Pasadena earlier this week, authorities say.
The assault occurred in the 300 block of North Lake Avenue just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Pasadena Police Department Lt. Monica Cuellar confirmed to KTLA on Wednesday that the girl reported a man sat next to her and assaulted her while she was at the bus stop.
After the incident, the girl – who was not physically harmed but was shaken up – got on the bus and went to school, where she contacted her mother.
Her mother then took her home and reported the incident to police, officials said.
An investigation was launched, and officers were able to obtain surveillance footage that led them to identify a suspect; just after 7 a.m. Saturday, officers detained a man matching the description of the suspect, the Pasadena Police Department said.
Based on their findings, officers determined that the arrestee – 57-year-old Farris Tollette – was the suspect and arrested him. Where Tollette was arrested was not disclosed.
The Palmdale resident was charged with child molestation. Inmate search records indicate he is being held on $150,000 bail.
