Mater Dei and Santa Margarita lost in CIF Southern California Regional girls volleyball finals Tuesday.
Mater Dei lost to Cathedral Catholic of San Diego in four sets: 20-25, 25-22, 20-25, 22-25.
Santa Margarita was swept by Palos Verdes 3-0.
Cathedral Catholic and Palos Verdes advance to the CIF State Championships finals that will be played Friday and Saturday at Santiago Canyon College in Orange.
Mater Dei and Santa Margarita were the visiting teams.
Mater Dei finished at 37-5. The Monarchs won the CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship and the Trinity League championship.
Santa Margarita finished 25-14. The Eagles advanced to the CIF-SS Division 2 semifinals in which they lost to Palos Verdes.
