Jay Leno is on the mend after suffering from a bad fall.
On Monday night, the former “Tonight Show” host was seen wearing an eye patch over a black eye and bruised face while attending the Comedy for Koby event in Beverly Hills. He also had a bandaged wrist.
Leno told “Inside Edition” that he fell down a hill in Pittsburgh while attempting to take a shortcut from his hotel to a nearby restaurant.
The hotel was at the top of the hill, while the restaurant was at the bottom. He didn’t have a car and instead of taking the “mile and a half” walk around to the eatery, he chose to walk down a hill that was about “60 to 70 feet” steep.
That turned out to be a bad idea.
“Then I fell down like boom, boom, boom. Rolled down the hill. Hit my head on a rock, knocked me in the eye,” he told TMZ pulling back his eyepatch to reveal the swollen black eye.
His injuries didn’t stop him from performing at his show, just hours after his fall.
“I did the show and when I came back to L.A. I went to the hospital,” he confessed.
Leno explained that he had an audience of “2600 people” and that the “show must go on.”
Indeed it has, because he hasn’t missed a beat. He’s continued to perform at his scheduled back-to-back shows including one over the weekend at Southern California’s Yaamava’ Casino.
When asked if he was in pain, he said “It doesn’t really matter. It’s not that big a deal. It’s alright. It’s alright.”
This isn’t the first time Leno has been badly hurt.
In 2022 he was severely burned after a fire erupted in his garage while he was working on his vintage cars.
He spent 10 days at the Grossman Burn Center in West Hills after seven percent of his body, including his chest, face and hands were burned.
When asked about his past injuries and recent fall the 74-year-old said, “The great thing about this age, is you don’t learn from your mistakes. You just keep doing the same stupid things.”
