Gabriella Sidhu and her partner are pleading for the public’s help to find their beloved rescue dog who escaped the home of a pet sitter they hired through Rover.
The couple rescued Mushie, an approximately 6-year-old black, brindle French bulldog, from a breeder just over a year ago. They showered Mushie with love and care, frequently taking her to the vet to manage her various health conditions and quality of life issues that arose from a life of being used to breed.
“She’s the love of our life, and we do everything to take care of her,” Sidhu said in an interview with KTLA. “We’re so careful. We’re never off leash, not even in our yard.”

Last week, the couple dropped Mushie off with their pet sitter in North Hollywood—a place where Mushie had stayed many times before. However, just 15 minutes later, the sitter called in a panic, informing them that Mushie had run out and disappeared.
“We drove back, rushed back. We were back within 15 minutes—so she hadn’t even been gone 30 minutes,” Sidhu recounted. “We spent the whole night searching every single street.”
Since then, the distraught couple, who live in El Sereno, has been living out of their car, scouring the neighborhood day and night for any sign of their missing dog, fearing that her unfamiliarity with the San Fernando Valley could prove disastrous.
“We’re not from the Valley, and she’s not familiar with the Valley, so we don’t want to go back home,” Sidhu said. “We haven’t been home … because we want to be here where she can find us, where she has a possibility to find us, because right now she’s wandering aimlessly, and we live over 15 miles away.”
They’ve spent over $1,000 printing flyers, and Sidhu says Rover has offered minimal assistance and is preparing to close their case.
“They offered to print flyers, but they’re not good flyers, and she’s asking us to pick them up,” Sidhu said. “Rover assigned an agent to us to check on our case but all they do is call once a day and ask us if we have any updates.”
Sidhu said Rover has checked online listings and posted “digital flyers” in an effort to help them find their dog, but she’s not sure how much of an impact that’s making.
The sitter, who Sidhu says was once a trusted figure in their life, has also not provided much help to find Mushie, and because they are a contractor and not actually employed by Rover, the company cannot force them to aid in the search.

With Mushie’s various health issues, including pancreatitis, which requires daily medication, the couple is desperate to find her.
“She means the world to us. We trusted someone, and within 15 minutes, they lost our precious, like a daughter, who we care for more than anything in the world,” Sidhu said. “We’re losing sleep, we’re losing money … we’re going to keep spending money, we’re going to keep losing sleep until we find her, because this is our baby.”
Sidhu urged anyone who spots the friendly French bulldog to call them immediately at 760-960-9272.
