(KRON) — Two suspects inside a stolen vehicle crashed head-on with another vehicle in Concord on Monday following an attempted traffic stop by police, according to the Concord Police Department.
Concord officers first attempted the traffic stop after spotting a vehicle reported stolen out of Alameda County, police said. After the driver failed to yield to authorities, they fled in the vehicle into a nearby neighborhood. Pursuing officers located the stolen vehicle abandoned in the area, Concord PD said, and witnesses said the two suspects got in a second vehicle and left the scene.
The second vehicle, which was also determined by police to be stolen, was found turning from Landana Drive onto northbound Willow Pass Road. While approaching Highway 4, the suspect vehicle crashed head-on with another vehicle traveling southbound on Willow Pass Road near the Kinney Bridge. Concord PD said that officers were not in active pursuit of the suspect vehicle at the time of the collision.
The head-on crash resulted in minor injuries, according to police.
The two suspects were arrested on multiple charges related to the crash and alleged stolen vehicles.
