Football players cannot sign with colleges until December, but some schools included football athletes in their Signing Day activities Wednesday.
Orange Lutheran had football tight end AJ Ia and quarterback TJ Lateef involved in its Signing Day event.
Ia is going to Arizona State. Lateef is bound for Nebraska.
Both said that their college choices are finalized.
“I like the school,” Ia said of Arizona State. “I always feel like I’m at home when I’m there.”
Ia took his official recruiting visit to Arizona State in April and attended an ASU-Kansas football game there Oct. 5.
Lateef made his official visit to Nebraska in April and was at the Cornhuskers’ home game against Colorado on Sept. 7.
“I really like all the love I get from everyone there, from the coaching staff to the fan base,” Lateef said. “I had other schools recruit me, I felt like Nebraska is the only one that stuck with me from the start.”
Orange Lutheran plays JSerra in a CIF Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinal playoff game Friday at Orange Coast College.
