1 in 5 US residents ‘more likely’ to move after election, according to Redfin

(KRON) — More than one in five U.S. residents, 22%, say they are more likely to move now that the election is over, according to a new Redfin study. Of those who say they are now more likely to move, 36% say the election results are making them consider a different country.

About a quarter of them, 26%, say they are considering a different state.

The percentage of those considering moving breaks down along party lines. A majority of those who said they were more likely to move were Democrats at 28%, compared to Republicans at 16%.

More Republicans said they were less likely to consider moving at 20%, compared to Democrats at 17%. Republicans were also in the majority when it came to those who said their likelihood of moving had not changed since the election at 64% compared to Democrats at 55%.

Although it’s worth noting that about the same number of respondents overall, 21%, said they are less likely to move now that the election is over.

Methodology

The Redfin-commissioned survey was conducted by Ipsos on Nov. 7-8. The nationally representative survey was fielded to 1,005 U.S. adults. Of those surveyed, 416 were Republicans, and 381 were Democrats.
