A man is dead and another is in the hospital after a physical altercation escalated into a shooting inside a Ralphs grocery store in Los Angeles.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, the fight involving multiple men broke out at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday night at the Ralphs store in L.A.’s Sun Valley neighborhood, which is located in a business plaza at the intersection of Laurel Canyon and Roscoe boulevards.
It is believed that the fight started when three suspects approached the two victims with pipe wrenches and began attacking them.
During the altercation, one of the men being attacked produced a handgun in self defense and fired, striking two other men, one of whom died at the scene.

The second gunshot wound victim was taken to a nearby hospital by an unknown person, the LAPD spokesperson said. He is said to be in stable condition.
Both victims are described as Hispanic men in their 20s.
Police are searching for two suspects, both of whom are also described as Hispanic men in their 20s.
It remains unclear if the shooting was gang related.
Crime scene tape was seen blocking off the store early Wednesday morning as detectives arrived to conduct their initial investigation.
