Southwest flight from San Jose makes emergency landing after engine trouble

(KRON) — A Southwest Airlines flight that departed from San Jose Norman Y. Mineta International Airport (SJC) Tuesday morning was turned around to make an emergency landing at the airport after engine trouble was reported aboard the Boeing 737-700, according to airport officials. The flight’s scheduled destination was the Hollywood Burbank Airport in Burbank, Calif.

Southwest Flight 2395 departed San Jose at 8:05 a.m., according to flight tracker FlightAware. At 8:40 a.m., there was an alert aboard the aircraft for engine trouble, officials said. Flight tracking data shows the 737 diverted over the area of San Benito and returned to SJC. The Boeing 737 landed back at the San Jose airport at around 9 a.m.

The Southwest plane landed safely and no injuries were reported in the incident, according to SJC officials. The Boeing 737 remains at the gate as of 9:30 a.m.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating, the agency told KRON4.
