GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL

OCVarsity’s final Top 10 rankings for 2024

1. Orange Lutheran (23-2): The Lancers and sophomore QB Makena Cook proved they’re No. 1 by defeating Newport Harbor for the first CIF-SS Division 1 title.

2. Newport Harbor (25-3): The Sunset League champion won 24 consecutive games between a pair of losses against Orange Lutheran.

3. Huntington Beach (21-8): The Sunset League runner-up lost four times to Newport Harbor, including in the Division 1 semifinals.

4. Canyon (18-3): The Division 1 semifinalist were arguably the most improved team in the county.

5. JSerra (20-7): Freshman quarterback Ava Van Heerde threw 61 TDs for the Trinity League co-champion.

6. Santa Margarita (19-6): The Eagles will be dangerous with QB Madi Lam as a senior next season.

7. Corona del Mar (18-10): The Sea Kings finished third in the challenging Sunset League.

8. Aliso Niguel (24-5): The South Coast League champion went 2-0 against Division 2 runner-up Trabuco Hills and beat Division 2 champion Northwood.

9. Northwood (19-6): The Timberwolves have a standout junior in QB and safety Natalie Keith.

10. Trabuco Hills (17-4): Junior wide receiver Emma Ortiz emerged as one of the county’s fastest players.
