(KRON) — One of San Francisco’s most iconic restaurants has decided to open on fall’s biggest holiday. For the first time since opening 116 years ago, John’s Grill will be in business on Thanksgiving.
John’s Grill, one of the city’s oldest establishments, is open on Thursday, Nov. 30 from noon until 8 p.m., a press release announced. The restaurant is in San Francisco’s Union Square at 63 Ellis St.
Two years ago, John’s Grill opened on Christmas Day for the first time in its century-old history. The restaurant served a special menu for the winter holiday. John’s Grill will do the same and feature a special Thanksgiving menu.

Normal hours for John’s Grill are every day for lunch from 11:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. then dinner from 3:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
John’s Grill is an iconic San Francisco restaurant that has been visited by many public figures throughout the years, including Hillary Clinton, Robin Williams, Ronald Reagan, Joe Montana and Willie McCovey, according to its website.
Last year, John’s Grill celebrated its 115th anniversary. It is said to be the first downtown restaurant to open after the 1906 earthquake. Mayor London Breed even said, “we are going to officially declare John’s Grill Day in San Francisco.”
