Vanden Dugger threw a late touchdown pass to Charlie Eckl to lead Dana Hills to a 45-41 win over Barstow in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs Friday night at Dana Hills High.
Dana Hills (9-2) trailed by two touchdowns multiple times in the first half and trailed by 10 points with eight minutes remaining in the game.
Dugger threw four touchdown passes. Radley Geiss ran for two touchdowns and had a receiving touchdown.
James Leicester and Aiden Desormiers caught touchdowns for Dana Hills and Morgan Smith had an interception.
Dana Hills will play at San Dimas in the quarterfinals Friday, Nov. 15.
In other playoff games Friday:
Division 2
San Juan Hills 34, Beaumont 0: San Juan Hills’ defense had four interceptions and four sacks in a shutout win over Beaumont.
Grant Kitteredge, Jake Vuoso, Greg Blomdahl and Maxwell Porter had interceptions for San Juan Hills (10-1). Porter had a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Timmy Herr threw touchdown passes to Vuoso and Dean Kolasinski. Luke Underdahl and Elijah Ayala had touchdown runs for the Stallions.
San Juan Hills will host Oaks Christian in the quarterfinals.
Division 3
Loyola 30, Tustin 13: Tustin allowed 27 consecutive points and was shut out in the second half by Loyola.
Eimesse Essis had a touchdown run for Tustin (9-2) and Trey Brown returned an interception 71 yards for a touchdown.
Vista Murrieta 23, Villa Park 20: Vista Murrieta made a field goal in the final minute to beat Villa Park.
Nate Lewis threw a touchdown pass for Villa Park (7-4) and caught a touchdown pass from Luvie Clark.
Division 4
Oxnard Pacifica 47, Laguna Beach 14: Laguna Beach allowed 33 consecutive points in the first-round loss.
Jackson Kollock threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Hunt and ran for a touchdown for Laguna Beach (9-2).
Jack Hooper had an interception for the Breakers in the first quarter.
Division 5
Foothill 30, Moorpark 28: Jake Lind threw a game-winning touchdown pass to Mike Galey in the final minute to lead Foothill to a win over Moorpark.
Zach Schutt recovered a Moorpark fumble on the ensuing possession to seal the win. Schutt also returned an interception for a touchdown.
Nathan Gouvion ran for a touchdown for Foothill (6-5) and Lind threw a touchdown pass to Nico Mancini. Matthew Greene also had an interception for the Knights.
Foothill will host Lakewood in the quarterfinals.
Division 6
San Dimas 43, Aliso Niguel 21: Jarett Sabol had two rushing touchdowns for Aliso Niguel in a loss to San Dimas.
Max Blasing had a receiving touchdown for Aliso Niguel (7-4).
Division 7
Golden Valley 35, El Toro 21: Makya Chee had two rushing touchdowns for El Toro in a loss to Golden Valley of Santa Clarita.
Jack Mckelvy had a touchdown pass for El Toro (5-6). The Chargers lost two fumbles in the fourth quarter.
Division 8
Irvine 34, Los Osos 32: Irvine had two special teams touchdowns and forced three turnovers in a win over Los Osos.
Deacon Moss had a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown and Jaden Burke had a 98-yard kick return for a score.
Sina Saferzadeh had a 20-yard touchdown run for Irvine (7-4). Khoa Bui and Seamus Hoffman ran for touchdowns for the Vaqueros.
Joseph Lynch recovered a fumble and Smith Spivey had an interception. Irvine will host Salesian in the quarterfinals.
Salesian 31, Esperanza 7: Travis Frazier threw a touchdown pass to Noah Puertas for Esperanza in a loss to Salesian.
Eddie Matthews had an interception for Esperanza (6-5).
St. Pius X-St. Matthias 21, Cypress 14: Xavier Guerrero had a rushing touchdown and passing touchdown for Cypress.
Guerrero threw a touchdown pass to Mekaih Felix in the fourth quarter for Cypress (2-9).
Segerstrom 25, Paramount 12: Segerstrom forced four turnovers and scored 25 consecutive points in the second half in a win over Paramount.
Nicholas Cervantes and Ayden Morales had touchdown runs for Segerstrom (8-3). Jesse Lopez threw a touchdown pass to Andrew Diaz.
Joshua Garcia forced a fumble on a Paramount punt and Julian Ramirez recovered the ball in a key play in the second half. Segerstrom will host St. Pius X-St. Matthias in the quarterfinals.
Division 11
Portola 31, Don Lugo 20: Portola upset top-seeded Don Lugo in the first round of the Division 11 playoffs.
Nash Luper threw four touchdown passes for Portola (5-6). Anthony Riccardi had two touchdown receptions for the Bulldogs. Malachi Moore and Jamal Abdelkarim added touchdown receptions.
Moore had two interceptions for Portola and Joshua Whang added another. Hamza Soliman had two sacks.
Portola will play the winner of Saturday’s game between Crespi and Santa Paula in the quarterfinals. The Bulldogs will be at home if Crespi wins and will travel if Santa Paula wins.
Big Bear 45, Capistrano Valley Christian 33: Nate Richie threw three touchdown passes for Capistrano Valley Christian in a loss to Big Bear.
Joshua Monroe had a touchdown run for Capo Valley Christian (5-6). Rocco Windham had a touchdown reception for the Eagles.
Los Amigos 21, Perris 18: Los Amigos kept its undefeated season alive by beating Perris.
Isaac Galindo ran for a touchdown for Los Amigos (11-0). The Lobos had three rushing touchdowns.
Los Amigos will host El Rancho in the quarterfinals next week.
Division 13
El Monte 55, Calvary Chapel 27: Matthew Peters had three total touchdowns in Calvary Chapel’s loss to El Monte.
Peters ran for a touchdown, threw a touchdown pass and had a kick return touchdown for Calvary Chapel (4-7). Quinlan Russell had a rushing touchdown for the Eagles. Jorge Brito had a touchdown reception.
Anaheim 21, Miller 10: Anaheim ran for three touchdowns in a win over AB Miller.
Diego Benitez had a touchdown run for Anaheim (9-2). Anaheim will host Arrowhead Christian in the quarterfinals.
Division 14
Costa Mesa 42, Temecula Prep 13: Andrew Waiss threw for 195 yards with four touchdowns in Costa Mesa’s win over Temecula Prep.
Govern Nguyen had two touchdown receptions for Costa Mesa (8-3). Brody Leonard and Rex Thompkins added touchdown receptions.
Gavin Garza ran for 112 yards with a touchdown and Waiss added a touchdown run. Costa Mesa’s defense forced three fumbles and Brandon Haro had an interception.
Costa Mesa will host San Gabriel in the quarterfinals.
Century 30, Arroyo 29: Daniel Joya threw two touchdown passes for Century in a one-point win over Arroyo.
Derek Carrillo had a touchdown run for Century and Matthew Pantaleon had two touchdown receptions.
Century (7-4) will host Ganesha in the quarterfinals.
