(KRON) – The Antioch Police Department has arrested a man after a nearly eight-hour standoff, the department announced on Saturday.
Antioch PD was alerted to reports that a woman had been assaulted, kidnapped, and robbed by the suspect in the 1000 block of Stonecrest Drive.
At 3:43 p.m., the responding officers located a 47-year-old female victim inside the residence. Antioch PD said officers believed the suspect, later identified as 61-year-old Tony Lamar Watson, was armed and barricaded himself inside the home.
During the standoff, police said they discovered Watson “violated the terms of a court order during the incident and had several unrelated felony arrest warrants for violating the terms of his probation.”
For hours, the APD Crisis Negotiation Team and APD SWAT team said they negotiated with Watson and he refused to comply. Watson displayed a knife at the officers, according to police.
The SWAT team took the suspect into custody at 11:46 p.m. Watson was then taken to the hospital for further medical evaluation.
Watson was later booked into the county jail for assault with a deadly weapon, felony domestic violence, kidnapping, robbery, violation of a court order, felony warrants and resisting arrest.
