(KRON) — Pacific Gas & Electric has begun shutting off power in some areas of the Bay Area due to weather danger, according to its website.
The shutoffs are primarily happening in the North Bay, though some customers in the East Bay have lost power as well. The purple triangles on the map below show where there are Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) put into place by PG&E.
Many of the shutoffs were put into place after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. There is no estimated time for restoration for many areas.
“Due to high winds and dry conditions, power in your area has been turned off to help prevent a wildfire. Once weather has improved, we will begin inspecting power lines and equipment for possible damage. Power will be restored as soon as it is safe to do so,” PG&E’s website said.
In the North Bay, there are outages in Vacaville and areas just outside of Sonoma and Petaluma. The outages continue north through much of the North Bay In the East Bay, the outages are just east of San Ramon and south of Livermore.
Conditions including low humidity levels, high winds and dry terrain lead to PSPS shutoffs.
