Anaheim transit operator to add nighttime service next year for resort, Platinum Triangle workers

The Anaheim Transportation Network, which operates resort buses and other transit options in the city, plans to add overnight service for workers in the resort district and the Platinum Triangle.

The Night Owl service will have stops at major employment centers such as large hotels and event venues. There won’t be fixed routes, but instead workers will get free rides in vans to their homes. It will also have an on-demand option for workers to request a ride.

The service is expected to operate between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. when transit service is either limited or unavailable depending on the hour.

The Platinum Triangle is home to Angel Stadium and the Honda Center.

The service is planned to be permanent and is supported at the start by federal funding.

ATN officials said they are buying electric vans to use for the service and it’s scheduled to begin in the latter half of 2025.

ATN operates the Anaheim Regional Transportation buses that focus on providing transportation in the resort district. Its other services include the FRAN, or Free Rides Around the Neighborhood, minibusses in downtown and EVE, or Everyone Ventures Everywhere, which was introduced last year and shuttles people to and from John Wayne Airport to Anaheim.

More than 9 million people ride on ATN’s routes annually, officials with the service said.
