Fullerton voters decided three City Council seats on the ballot, for Districts 1, 2 and 4.
Incumbents Fred Jung in District 1 and Nick Dunlap in District 2 are seeking reelection, but longtime Councilmember Bruce Whitaker is termed out. That means at least one new person will be sworn in to the council as the representative from District 4.
Early returns show Jung and Dunlap have sizeable leads over their challengers. Vivian “Kitty” Jaramillo and Jamie Valencia are in a tight race to represent District 4, pulling ahead of Linda Whitaker and Scott Markwotiz.

Controversy entered the District 4 race in the weeks leading up to Election Day. Candidate Scott Markowitz admitted to falsifying his nomination paperwork, a violation of California Election Code that, if caught earlier, might have prevented his name from appearing on the ballot.
Challenging Jung in District 1 is businessman Matthew Truxaw. Challenging Dunlap in District 2 is a familiar name, Jan Flory, who previously served 14 years on the council.
