A freeway off-ramp in Pacoima is completely shut down after a fatal crash involving a pedestrian early Tuesday.
Preliminary information indicates that the crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. on the westbound 118 Freeway off-ramp at Glenoaks Boulevard.
It appeared that a white van struck a pedestrian, according to Rich Prickett in Sky5. A white sheet covering a body was seen in the grass next to the right lane of the off-ramp, which was initially the only lane blocked off.
Investigators were seen speaking with what appeared to be the occupants of the van just after 6:30 a.m.
A SigAlert was issued for the off-ramp that indicated it would be entirely shut down until approximately 9 a.m., but traffic on the freeway itself did not seem to be immediately impacted by the closure.
A possible detour route for motorists who need to travel through the area is San Fernando Road, KTLA traffic reporter Ginger Chan said.
No further details surrounding the crash were immediately available.
