CUPERTINO, Calif. (KRON) — A severe traffic alert is snarling traffic on southbound Highway 85 near Cupertino after a small aircraft landed on the roadway Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. Multiple lanes are blocked south of Stevens Creek Boulevard.
The single-engine plane landed on Highway 85 shortly after 7 a.m., CHP said. No vehicles on the roadway were involved in the emergency landing.
Two right lanes are closed as of 7:26 a.m. Crews are on the scene working to remove the plane.
No injuries were reported in the incident, CHP said.
It was not immediately known what led to the emergency landing.
Caltrans advised motorists to use Interstate 280 or Highway 17 to avoid the lane closures. There is no estimated time for all lanes to reopen.
