Car drives into crowd during street takeover in Anaheim, police say; 2 teens hospitalized

Two teenagers were injured during a street takeover in Anaheim early Friday morning, Nov. 1, when a car drove into a crowd of spectators, authorities said.

Anaheim police officers were dispatched at around 2 a.m. on Friday to a takeover at the intersection of Orangewood Avenue and State College Boulevard on reports that a vehicle hit pedestrians, according to Anaheim PD PIO Sgt Matt Sutter.

Anaheim Fire and Rescue was also sent to the scene.

Emergency personnel discovered two injured young men, both 19 years old, on the ground, Sutter said.

“Their injuries range from broken bones and abrasions,” he said. “I know at least one had broken ribs.”

Both were taken to a hospital, he said.

The pair were hit by a black 2017 Dodge Charger. The driver fled but left the car at the scene, according to Sutter.

Anaheim police are investigating.
