A Crestline man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his brother with dumbbells and a two-by-four on Wednesday, then armed himself and threatened to burn down the family’s home during a standoff with police.
Clifton William Bedore, 45, argued with his brother over a cell phone and the care of their elderly mother before the attack, then “barricaded himself on the third story of their residence and threatened to burn the house down,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Armed with a loaded firearm and “an improvised incendiary device,” Bedore threatened to harm anyone who tried to come up the stairs and poured what officials believe to be an accelerant on the floor.
After a four-hour standoff, during which Bedore’s mother and brother were taken to a local hospital for treatment, deputies took Bedore into custody without incident.
