The Anaheim Hills Rotary Club will host a special remembrance ceremony for its Flags of Honor display at 10 a.m. on Nov. 10, and the community is invited to attend this patriotic tribute in honor of the Veterans Day.
The Flags of Honor will be on display at Eucalyptus Park through the weekend and on Veterans Day.
The Nov. 10 ceremony will include recognition and check presentations for the Anaheim VFW, Patriots and Paws and Patriots 4 Pendleton organizations that continuously help our troops and veterans. A representative from each one will give a brief overview of their organization.
All veterans in attendance will be asked to assemble in front of the flags for a group photo culminating with a performance of Taps.
The Rotary Club will also have thank you cards available for those in attendance to fill out, which the club will then distribute to Marines at Camp Pendleton for Thanksgiving.
The nonprofit Rotary Club invites all veterans and their family to join club members at 9 a.m., for complimentary donuts and coffee, while supplies last, in the hour preceding the opening ceremony.
Flags of Honor is a signature event featuring more than 200 American flags prominently displayed at Eucalyptus Park ahead of Veterans Day, paying tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of all veterans, including those currently serving in the military.
Individual flag sponsorships are currently available, which include a personalized dedication tag and may be purchased at anaheimhillsrotary.org. Proceeds from the sponsorships support Rotary’s various community service programs. Please note that seating is limited, so those planning to attend are encouraged to bring along a lawn chair.
Shop with the Women’s Club
Members of the Anaheim Hills Women’s Club have added a boutique, featuring 10 vendors, to its Nov. 20 luncheon, and all women in the community are invited.
The luncheon will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course.
In addition to three entrée choices, guests have the opportunity to peruse various items offered by the vendors including clothing, purses, candy and a variety of gift items. Cost to attend is $38 per person and the reservation deadline is Nov. 11.

Woman’s Club of Orange honored for its efforts
Congratulations to the Woman’s Club of Orange for being named the 2024 nonprofit organization by the Orange Chamber of Commerce. This prestigious award was presented to Woman’s Club of Orange President Carol Allen and Dean Kathleen Stevens during a recent State of the City event hosted by Mayor Dan Slater.
During the presentation, Mayor Slater shared that the Woman’s Club of Orange had asked what club members could do to help the city and that he personally suggested taking care of the roses. As a result of that suggestion, the garden section of the nonprofit club currently tends to all the roses in the Plaza Fountain Park and Hart Park by pruning, planting and fertilizing the roses every week.
Mayor Slater also recognized the club’s garden section leader, Annie Mansell, for spearheading that effort. The club, which has also replaced 100 dead rose bushes since beginning this project, will continue to tend to the roses in the future.
Additionally, during this month’s general meeting, the Woman’s Club of Orange received recognition by proclamation from Third District Supervisor Don Wagner, chairman of the OC Board of Supervisors, for the club’s many civic contributions as well as its 100 years of service.

Helping Marine babies get off to a good start
Patriots 4 Pendleton recently delivered baby baskets filled with basic essential items for the newly born infants of Marines from the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 1st Radio Battalion and 1st Intelligence Battalion stationed at Camp Pendleton.
The Baby Basket program is an ongoing project supported by the nonprofit Patriots 4 Pendleton, which accepts donated items from community members that are assembled and distributed to newborns of Marines at Camp Pendleton.

Blood drive planned
Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church will host a Red Cross blood drive in its Fellowship Hall from 1 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 11.
The community is encouraged to participate. Donating blood helps the Red Cross save lives.

Bingo fundraiser to help kids in school
The Assistance League of Anaheim will host a Bingo fundraiser from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 at Emerald Court in Anaheim, 1731 W. Medical Center Drive, and all women in the community are invited.
This special event benefits the Assistance League’s Operation School Bell, its signature project that provides school uniforms for underserved children in Anaheim.
