(KRON) — A student at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa was arrested on Wednesday after a gun was allegedly found in his locker, the Santa Rosa Police Department said. Montgomery High School has been under scrutiny for on-campus violence after a student was killed there in 2023.
SRPD responded to the school located at 1250 Hahman Drive at about 10:42 a.m. for the report of a firearm on campus.
A report identified three 16-year-old male students as being suspected of having a gun on campus. Officers arrived at the school and detained all three.
An SRPD investigation revealed that one of the students had a loaded handgun in his locker. Police looked into the involvement of all three students and determined that only one was involved.
The boy was booked into juvenile hall for possession of a loaded handgun on campus and minor in possession of a handgun. He will not be identified due to his age.
In 2023, two students were stabbed in a Montgomery High art class, and 16-year-old Jayden Pienta was killed. Police said a 15-year-old freshman committed the stabbing.
