The Miami Heat immortalized franchise icon Dwyane Wade with a new statue outside of the Kaseya Center.
He’s the first in Heat history to have the honor.
However, many pointed out the statue looked nothing like the three-time NBA champion. Even Wade himself asked what many were thinking.
“That’s crazy. I can’t believe that. Who is that guy?” Wade said after the figure was unveiled. He was joking, of course.
Sports reporter Rachel Nichols said Wade approved the statue.
In the meantime, the internet didn’t hold back their feelings about the statue and immediately roasted it.

Some said it looked like Laurence Fishburne’s character, Morpheus, in “The Matrix.”
“I can’t believe the Romans carved some of the most beautiful and iconic statues with hammer and chisel yet with modern tech we get this,” wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.
“That ain’t D WADE, that’s homie from ‘I Am Legend’” another user wrote on the platform.
“Bruh that’s not D Wade that’s the mummy,” another person added with a GIF from the movie “The Mummy.”
“We desperately need more (people) to go into statue design bc WHAT!? First Kobe and now D. Wade,” read another post to X.
The comment section on the Heat’s Instagram posts of the unveiling was also on fire.
“Who approved this before rollout and when is their termination date?” wrote one follower.
Another user commented,”The statue is crying because it knows there’s no resemblance.”
“Stop buying statues on Temu, first Kobe now Wade,” wrote a follower.
“Y’all did him so wrong OMG,” wrote another.
The Heat will continue to honor Wade with a special themed game when the team hosts the Detroit Pistons on Monday night.
