OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — In a couple of months, motorists will be paying more to cross all Bay Area bridges, except the Golden Gate Bridge, which is not state-owned. The price is currently $7, and in January, it will go up a dollar to $8. But there’s a good chance that won’t be the end of it.
If approved, starting in 2026, tolls would go up 50 cents every year until 2030, when it reaches $10.50 to cross.

The Bay Area Toll Authority said it needs money to do construction work, and it wants to turn to drivers once again to pay for it.
Regional Measure 3 was passed in 2018, raising the state-owned bridge tolls in the Bay Area by a dollar in 2019 and again in 2022, with one last increase set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025. A separate agency is behind this new proposal to raise prices by 50 cents per year until 2030.
A public hearing will be held on Nov. 13.
