A 1948 Ford Super Deluxe, a 1929 Oldsmobile woodie and a 1940 Ford Deluxe Wagon from the Southern California Woodie Club helped Shake Shack open its latest location on Wednesday, Oct. 23. A fitting theme since the fast food chain’s third Orange County pit stop, found in Surf City, is also the region’s first Shake Shack equipped with a drive-thru.
Members of the Southern California Woodie Club, whose goal is to champion the history of the wooden car and its role in California surf culture, made the inaugural drive-thru cruise. Members from the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Huntington Beach Visitors Bureau and the Edison High School Band were also on hand to christen the burger joint’s newest space. Huntington Beach Mayor Gracey Van Der Mark also made an appearance at today’s grand opening.
